Police have charged a 20-year-old with murder in Sydney's southwest.

A 20-year-old man has been charged with stabbing his father to death in Sydney's southwest.

The 56-year-old victim died on the way to hospital after he was stabbed on Sunday night at a home in Moorebank, police said.

The alleged attacker was arrested at the home on Josephine Crescent and was subsequently charged with murder.

He has been refused bail and is due to face Parramatta Bail Court on Monday.

Police said the incident is being treated as domestic-related and Fairfax Media reports that the attacker is the victim's son.

It reports that the argument escalated after a dispute about a computer at the home.

After the son allegedly knifed his father in the upper body, he went to a neighbour's home where an ambulance was called, according to Fairfax.
