Howzat for a dad fail? Little boy's father chickens out of catching a cricket ball - leaving it to smack his son in the face

  • His dad went to catch the ball but backed out at the last minute
  • The ball bounced on the grass and hit the young boy in the face

A dad who took his kids for a day out at the cricket may be feeling a little bad after an unfortunate accident.

At the Matador Cup match between Victoria and South Australia at the WACA this week the man went in to catch a huge six hit by one of the players.

However as he closed in on the ball it appears the sun got in his eyes, and the ball bounced from within his reach and hit his son in the face.

Footage of the incident shows the man, who had been watching the game from the grass, running towards an incoming six.

He gets close to catching the ball but balked at the last minute, as it looked like something had blocked his view.

Instead, the ball bounced on the grass next to him, jumping up and hitting his young son in the face as he was running.

Luckily, the young boy looked reasonably unfazed as his dad rushed to comfort him after the clash.
