UPDATE: Nov. 10 ― In a statement to The Huffington Post, a representative for Angelina Jolie said she is “relieved” by the results of the DCFS investigation and continues move forward with the best interests of her children in mind.

“The job of the DCFS is to make sure the children are in a safe and secure situation,” the statement reads. “As we said earlier this week, childcare professionals encouraged a legal agreement accepted and signed by both sides that was in the best interest of the children. Angelina said from the beginning that she felt she had to take action for the health of the family and is relieved that after their 8-week involvement, the DCFS is now satisfied the safeguards are put in place that will allow the children [to] heal.”

PREVIOUSLY: The investigation into an alleged incident of child abuse between Brad Pitt and his son Maddox has come to a close, according to TMZ.

The Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services has reportedly concluded that the actor did not commit child abuse in the alleged incident, which was reported shortly after Pitt’s now–estranged wife Angelia Jolie filed for divorce in September.

After news of their split first broke, Pitt became the target of a DCFS investigation after an anonymous caller alerted the agency to an alleged altercation between Pitt and his eldest son on a private plane.

Custody of Pitt and Jolie’s six children — Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh and twins Knox and Vivienne — has been a major point of contention for the famous couple, as the actress requested full physical custody in her initial filing, reportedly because of Pitt’s parenting methods and alleged abuse of marijuana and alcohol.

The investigation was expanded in October to encompass incidents with the couple’s other children, but TMZ reports that the DCFS has determined that there was no pattern of abusive behavior.

Just last week, Pitt responded to Jolie’s request by seeking joint physical custody, possibly positioning the family on a path to a contentious battle in family court.

Both Jolie and Pitt have largely remained out of the public eye since the split, but the “Allied” actor was spotted with frequent collaborator Julia Roberts on Tuesday attending a private screening of “Moonlight,” a film backed by Pitt’s production company, Plan B.

The Huffington Post has reached out to Pitt’s and Jolie’s representatives and will update the post accordingly.
