The ABC has revealed its revamped breakfast team at Triple J.

Triple j has picked Adelaide lads Ben Harvey and Liam Stapleton to take over from Matt Okine and Alex Dyson as breakfast presenters on the youth-oriented radio station.

The ABC said on Wednesday that Ben and Liam would take the breakfast reins from the popular Okine and Dyson after they announced they would step down in December.

The new presenters, aged 23 and 20, have previously been based in South Australia. Harvey left school at 16 to work on a dairy farm while Stapleton kicked off his career at Adelaide community station Fresh 92.7.

The pair is said to be big fans of stand-up comedy, having performed in the South Australian Raw Comedy State Finals and Adelaide Fringe.

Along with Harvey and Stapleton, triple j's new breakfast team will include ABC journalist Brooke Boney on current affairs and weekly guests Dylan Alcott and Gen Fricker.

Triple j Content Director Ollie Wards backed the new line-up saying Ben and Liam had "thousands of hours on air together and crazy amounts of fun ideas".

On Monday the much-loved Matt and Alex broke the news they would be stepping down next month, with their final show set to go to air on December 16. Dyson is trading radio for travel while Okine plans to commit more time to his music project, Boilermakers.

Since they took the breakfast reins the duo has helmed the popular Like A Version segment and covered thousands of kilometres broadcasting from the road. They were also known for their many funny videos.
