Kiwis have well and truly embraced the Christmas spirit by getting behind a nationwide secret Santa this silly season.
New Zealand's Twitter Secret Santa Campaign will see nearly 2,000 people receive gifts from a mystery Kris Kringle.
"Players are randomly matched with another person on Twitter and must send them a small Christmas gift based on what their Tweets say about them," Twitter explains.
Participants then send the gifts to a storehouse at Auckland Airport, where they are sorted and then sent out anonymously.
Those who don't send off their gift by December 4th will be labelled a "Bad Santa" but fear not, the late gift will go to good cause and be sent on to children's charity CanTeen.
The gift buying stage is now underway and Twitter users are dropping clues about who they've received and what they might like under the hashtag #nzsecretsanta.
