Disgraced former AFL star Ben Cousins has been arrested after allegedly breaching a violence restraining order protecting his former partner.

Cousins was arrested in his Perth home on Tuesday night, as an arrest warrant had already been issued for skipping an unrelated court hearing when the alleged breach happened.

The former West Coast Eagles captain is now accused of three breaches of a violence restraining order, two methamphetamine possession charges and charges relating to breaching bail.

Cousins was last month hospitalised after a car crash with a truck.

The 2005 Brownlow medalist was expected to appear in Armadale Magistrates Court on Wednesday morning.
