Being friends with Leonardo DiCaprio obviously has it perks. Access to his entire collection of newsboy hats and vape pens, however, does not come without some drawbacks. For example, making super manly bets with his “Revenant” co-star Tom Hardy about getting tattoos they’ll most definitely regret.
You wouldn’t suspect it from his Myspace profile (yes, it’s a thing), but Hardy is apparently the self-deprecating type who refused to believe he would receive an Oscar nod his performance in the Alejandro G. Iñárritu film. DiCaprio, however, disagreed, which prompted Hardy to bet a “tattoo of the winner’s choosing” that he would not be nominated.
“[DiCaprio] wrote, in this really shitty handwriting: ‘Leo knows everything,’” Hardy recalled in his December Esquire profile. “Ha! I was like, ‘OK, I’ll get it done, but you have to write it properly.”
Welp.
Both received Oscar nominations ― DiCaprio went on to win his first Academy Award, while Hardy lost to Mark Rylance in “Bridge of Spies” ― leaving Hardy at Leo’s tattoo mercy.
“I haven’t got it yet,” Hardy said, “because it sucks.”
You guys, Leonardo DiCaprio does know everything.
