By many assessments, 2016 was not a great year. Looking at the 10 highest-grossing movies proves that people may have wanted to escape the reality around them.
While the year is not yet over, it is looking like for the first year ever not a single film in the top 10 at the domestic box office has a storyline based in reality or about real people, Deadline first noted.
