A huge brawl has marred Saturday night in Melbourne, with dozens of drunken revelers reportedly clashing with police outside Flinders St Station.
The drunken fight erupted among crowd of young adults about midnight and turned into a clash with police when officers turned up. It was so intense police were forced to use pepper spray to subdue the crowd, NewsCorp Australia reports.
There were up to 30 people involved in the fracas, Network Nine reports.
About 80 officers, including mounted police, reportedly rushed to the scene, with some of the brawlers reportedly spotted abusing and antagonising officers.
A second fight broke out on a train, which forced the cancellation of rail services for some time at the station. NewsCorp reports that this altercation occurred between police and a young man.
Five people were arrested after the melee, according to media reports. Three people were arrested to assaulting police, while two others were detained for being drunk in a public place.
No charges have yet been laid, Nine Network reports.
