Happy 'cos NEW MUSIC!

December: the month where the nights get warmer, the drinks get longer and Australia's music scene becomes abuzz with local and international artists hitting the summer festival circuit.

It's a time to celebrate the year that was by taking a moment (even better, a dance) for the talented souls that provided us with the soundtrack to our 2016.

It's also a time to prime our ears for some new music. Because, let's be honest, we all want to be the person our friends hassle for new tune suggestions (and honestly, that Destiny's Child playlist is kind of getting old).

Ahead, five Aussie artists to get on your radar, before the rest of country gets there first.

You've probably already heard his first single "Something I Said" and maybe even his follow-up "Washed Out" which hit the airways last week. And in 2017, you can expect even more from the Adelaide-based artist as he releases his debut album. Signed to the U.S. publishers behind Courtney Barnett, Rolling Stone have already proclaimed his music as "captivating." Listen here and scroll down for Timberwolf's music picks for summer.

If your electro playlist needs an update, look no further than Sydney's Polographia AKA Daniel John Stapleton and Moktar Sharouny. Their sound is dancey, but chilled -- basically the perfect background music to your summer barbecue -- that also doubles as easy Sunday morning listening. Their brand new EP 'Friends' dropped just in time for Christmas. Listen here.

Ngaiire

If her debut album "Blastoma" hasn't been on high rotation since its release back in June, you need to seriously question your choices. Because, aside from her immensely good voice and can't-look-away style, Ngaiire's message is exciting. HuffPost Australia caught up with the Sydney-based artist back in November, and judging by the year she's had, she'll be a hot contender for next year's ARIAs. Listen here.

They've been one of the most exciting music acts to come out of Western Australia, and with a Glastonbury performance already under their belt, and a record set to drop in 2017, it's safe to say we can expect big things from the Perth four-piece. Listen here.
