Another sickening Big Bash head clash has put one of the women's league's brightest stars in hospital.

Brisbane Heat's star West Indian recruit Deandra Dottin and teammate Laura Harris collided heavily in the Women's Big Bash League Twenty20 match against the Melbourne Stars in Brisbane on Tuesday.

The pair collided while attempting to save a boundary at Allan Border Field.

Dottin was left writhing in agony and carried from the field on a stretcher. She was taken to hospital with a suspected concussion.

Harris, who also collided with the fence in the same incident, remained at the ground after she was treated by medical staff. Both players are expected ti be reassessed on Wednesday.

"We're awaiting news on Deandra and Laura but there's no doubt that the game changed after those injuries," Heat coach Andy Richards said.

Heat went on to win by five runs, scoring 5-129 (Mooney 55, Jonassen 32) and restricting the Stars to 6-124 (Lanning 50, Inglis 41).

The collision comes a day after Brisbane fast bowler Holly Ferling was ruled out of Tuesday's game against the Stars with concussion sustained when her head hit the ground trying to take a catch in the deep during Monday's match between the two sides.

On December 13, two Melbourne Stars miraculously escaped unharmed after a nasty outfield clash of heads in Albury. Tom Triffitt and teammate Adam Zampa collided at high speed in a Big Bash practice match between the Stars and Sydney Thunder.

Zampa later said he came out unscathed because he had a head "made of concrete".

Last year, in England's Twenty20 competition, Australian all-rounder Moises Henriques was not so lucky in his clash with Surrey teammate Rory Burns.

Henriques had to have his jaw banded shut for a five-week period after he and Burns crashed into each other in the outfield. Both players were knocked unconscious and ambulances were rushed onto the field to treat both players.
