2016 As A Horror Movie Trailer Is Terrifyingly On Point

The running joke of the internet keeps on running -- that 2016 is the horror year that nobody saw coming.

From Brexit to Donald Trump to exploding phones -- not to mention the loss of too many music and film legends -- it's the stuff of a horror film.

If 2016 was a film, it's trailer might go something like this dark video from Friend Dog Studios.

It starts off with promising New Year's Eve celebrations and ends with the protagonists clutching axes to ward away the unexpected evils of the year. Yikes.

New Year's Day couldn't come fast enough.
