All-rounder Hilton Cartwright will make his Test debut on Tuesday as Australia turn one eye to India ahead of the final Test of the summer at the SCG.
Selectors have named two spinners to take on Pakistan, with Steve O'Keefe coming into the XI at the expense of paceman Jackson Bird on a pitch expected to offer turn.
It's the first time Australia have played spin twins at home since the rain-affected Sydney Test against the West Indies 12 months ago.
Cartwright will bat at No.6 and offer captain Steve Smith an extra seam option with the ball.
O'Keefe has not worn the baggy green since the first Test of the series against Sri Lanka, where he broke down mid match.
The left-armer won the nod ahead of Ashton Agar.
"He bowled particularly well in Melbourne, but conditions sometimes change the team," Australia's skipper Steve Smith said of Bird.
"We're playing the two spinners, traditionally out here it does take some spin."
Team: David Warner, Matt Renshaw, Usman Khawaja, Steve Smith, Peter Handscomb, Hilton Cartwright, Matthew Wade, Steve O'Keefe, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Nathan Lyon.
