Body of 60-year-old Man Found In Far North Queensland Flood Waters

He fell from a bridge while warning motorists of rising water.

The body of a 60-year-old man who was swept away by floodwaters in Far North Queensland has been found by police.

The ABC reports that the man slipped and fell from a bridge into flood waters at Tolga on the Atherland Tablelands around 6pm on Wednesday while trying to warn other motorists of the flood.

His body was last seen near Spring Creek and was located this morning approximately seven kilometres from where he went into the water.

Queensland Police say they are working with Queensland Fire and Emergency Services to recover the man's body from the scene.

Police conducted a search and rescue operation from about 6pm to 11pm Wednesday night, resuming at 5am Thursday morning.

Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
