Man Dies After Being Pulled From Water At Victorian Beach

A man has died at a beach in the Victorian suburb of Ocean Grove on Wednesday after being pulled from the water.

The man, believed to be in his 50s and from Preston, north of Melbourne, was pulled from the water shortly before dying at the scene.

Emergency services were called to reports of a swimmer in distress at Ocean Grove Beach, east of Geelong around 3PM, Victoria Police confirmed in a statement,

Police are preparing a report for the coroner.

The incident comes after a recent spate of water-related deaths over the holiday period and 22 people drowning within the past month in NSW.
