The nation's capital has decided it's time for a number plate revamp and they are asking the public to vote on a new slogan. Canberrans were invited to contribute ideas at the end of last year for a new short and snappy phrase to feature on the plates. They now have the chance to vote in one new slogan and to keep one old slogan.

The judging panel chose 10 slogans which "reflect the range of suggestions put forward by the community and support pride in our great city", according to the ACT Your Say voting site. Behold, the official shortlist:

  • NGUNNAWAL COUNTRY
  • AUSTRALIA'S MEETING PLACE
  • CBR – AN ACTIVE CITY
  • CBR – CITY OF DIVERSITY
  • CBR – DRIVING THE NATION
  • CBR – GREEN AND CLEAN
  • CBR – BRILLIANT POSSIBILITIES
  • CBR – FOR ALL SEASONS
  • CANBERRA – THE BUSH CAPITAL
  • CBR – AUSTRALIA'S COOL CAPITAL

The front runners are "Canberra - The Bush Capital", followed by "CBR - Driving the Nation" and "Ngunnawal Country" according to one poll from The Canberra Times. Meanwhile, "CBR - Australia's Cool Capital" is getting the universal eye roll. Seriously?

But the internet has better ideas. Some hilariously accurate slogans have surfaced on Twitter that were sadly overlooked. Behold, the unofficial shortlist:

Here's the list of current number plate slogans -- the losing four will get the boot:

  • CANBERRA THE NATION'S CAPITAL
  • CANBERRA – HEART OF THE NATION
  • CANBERRA – AGE FRIENDLY CITY
  • FEEL THE POWER OF CANBERRA
  • PARLIAMENT HOUSE

Voting is on until February 2nd 2017 and the winning slogans will be announced in March. Go vote.
