Two buses with 50 children on board have collided at Newnes, north of Lithgow in the NSW Blue Mountains. It is understood those involved escaped with minor injuries.
68 people in total were on board the buses that crashed at the intersection of State Mine Gully Road and Old Bells Line of Road around 4PM, according to a statement released on Thursday by NSW Police.
A major emergency response was activated involving representatives of the NSW police, NSW Ambulance Paramedics, Fire & Rescue NSW and volunteers from the Lithgow Volunteer Rescue Association.
Paramedics were required to treat injuries at the scene while three children and a woman were taken to Lithgow Hospital for further assessment, with the worst injuries understood to be several bruises.
The remaining children are also in the process of being taken to Lithgow Hospital for precautionary checks.

It is believed those involved were from a school in St Marys in Sydney's west on a school holiday excursion.
