A woman will front court after allegedly going on a random axe rampage in Sydney, injuring two people in the city's inner west.
Police said they were called to a service station on Stanmore Road, Enmore, after a 32-year-old man was struck in the head with an axe about 2.25am Saturday.
Police also received reports of a 43-year-old woman being hit by an axe outside the premises, according to a statement.
When they arrived, officers found the man inside the store with a serious head wound. They also discovered a woman with minor injuries.
Both victims were rushed to hospital and remain there in a stable condition.
Police said a short time later they arrested a woman in her 20s and seized an axe she was carrying She is believed to have chosen her victims at random.
The woman has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
She was refused bail and will face Parramatta Bail Court on Sunday.
