Theatre fans have gone bonkers for cheap tickets to The Book Of Mormon preview in Melbourne, with people camping out for nearly 18 hours to score a ticket at a fraction of the normal cost.

The 'special' preview will be shown on January 17th and tickets were an absolute steal at $20, attracting a cue that stretched around an entire block.

According to the Herald Sun the first fans arrived at 3:30pm on Sunday camping out until they went on at 10am on Monday. Now that's commitment.

"There is well over 1000 people here for a show that's never been played in Aus. Never underestimate the power of theatre #BookOfMormonAU," one Twitter user wrote.

If you've been living under a rock, The Book of Mormon is the musical brain child of South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone.

The show that's featured in Broadway and the West End has won a Grammy and nine Tony Awards, making it one of the most successful musicals of all time.

For those who missed out on these extremely cheap tickets for Jan 17th (they went pretty bloody fast), the show will run from January 18th at Melbourne's Princess Theatre.
