If you're a self-professed 'Parrothead' or a general beach bum, this one's for you.
Byron Bay Bluesfest has announced Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefers will be joining the festival's 2017 lineup.
Known for hits such as 'Cheeseburger in Paradise' and 'Margaritavaille', the American lead singer, songwriter and king of 'Margaritaville' himself will be journeying to Byron Bay to play exclusively for Bluesfest punters this April.
"Yes, Jimmy is coming all the way to Australia to play one show just for you," Bluesfest director Peter Noble said on Wednesday.
"Jimmy and The Coral Reefers will be present and presenting his unique 'island escapism' style at the epicentre of Australian escapism -- Byron Bay."
For the uninitiated, "Jimmy" is a bit of a legend in popular culture. His devoted fans, affectionately known as 'Parrotheads', are commonly seen sporting outrageous tropical outfits when he is in town. (Expect to see a lot more of where those came from.)
Here's Jimmy and 'Margaritaville' back in 1978:
"When Jimmy decides to go on tour, he is one of the highest grossing artists anywhere," Noble said. "Bluesfest is proud to bring him to our stage."
The annual festival of blues and roots is held each year over the Easter long weekend at Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm in Byron Bay.
In lieu of a few scratchings of late, Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefers join a lineup bursting with international talent -- from Santana and American rock poet Patti Smith to Mary J. Blige, blues singer 'King of the Blues' and contemporary folk rockers 'The Lumineers'.
We suggest jumping on tickets sooner rather than later.
