Ed Sheeran is ready for fatherhood.

The 25-year-old singer-songwriter sat down with Beats 1’s Zane Lowe for an in-depth interview, and the conversation got really personal, really fast.

I wanted to be a dad, like, last year,” Sheeran told Lowe. “I’m ready. I’m ready, let’s go. I want tour bus babies ― little fat, chubby babies that just kind of walk around.”

The possibility of fatherhood is not all that far off for Sheeran, who’s been with live-in girlfriend Cherry Seaborn for about two years. He’s even built a pub for parties so as not to disturb their future children.

The problem with my house at the moment is, when I have a house party, it’s all in the house,” Sheeran said. “And if I have kids, I still want to, like, have mates around and have beers and stuff like that, so it’s good to have something that’s separate.”

“What a responsible parent you will be,” Lowe quipped.

Unfortunately for us, Sheeran’s planning on taking a long break from music while his children grow up.

“I think when they hit four or five and start primary school, I’m just out,” Sheeran said. “I think Springsteen took an extended break when his kids went to school. I think that’s going to be me. I want to set up a little studio in the countryside and have new artists come down.”

We’ll be sad to see Sheeran step out of the spotlight, but we’re happy he’s found his soulmate in Seaborn.

“We’re very, very strong,” Sheeran said of Seaborn. “I’ve never been happier. I’ve never been more comfortable. I’ve never been more inspired.”
