Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has congratulated Donald Trump on becoming the 45th President of the United States.
Turnbull wished Trump well in a tweet on Saturday afternoon, saying he hoped the controversial Republican enjoyed "every success" in the US' top job.
"We are steadfast allies & trusted friends with a great future ahead of us. We wish you every success," Turnbull wrote.

Trump was sworn in as the 45th president of the United States at noon on Friday, Washington time, officially replacing his Democrat predecessor, Barack Obama.
Australia's ambassador to the US Joe Hockey attended the inauguration at the Capitol and also wished Trump well.
Hockey, Turnbull's former Liberal colleague, said it was an honour to "witness the peaceful transfer of power".
