Valentine's Day is a divisive celebration -- you either love it or you find it incredibly awkward, manufactured or unnecessarily cheesy.
Until 'Pet Dating' came around. And this is something we can all afford to get around.
The Pet Foundation, the charitable arm of Australian pet care company Greencross Group Ltd, and Petbarn have teamed up to host their annual adoption event on February 11.
Held in over 100 Petbarn stores across the country, lonely (or not) humans will have the opportunity to meet and greet a number of pets -- cats, dogs, rabbits and guinea pigs -- in need of adoption.
And if you find your purrfect partner in crime, you'll be able to go through the pet adoption process in-store on the day -- meaning you'll be sure to have a snuggle buddy by the time Valentine's Day comes around, date or no date.
All cats and dogs are de-sexed, vaccinated and micro-chipped before being brought into the store, with 100 percent of adoption fees returned to the charity.
With backing from a host of local animal welfare groups including the RSPCA and Animal Welfare League, the event found new homes for 345 pets in 2016.
If you're tossing up whether adopting your next pet is for you, here are some reasons why you should.
Now go out and find your furrever friend!
