Hugh Jackman has issued a public service announcement to his 9.8 million Instagram followers after undergoing his sixth treatment for skin cancer and posting an image to social media.

"Another basal cell carcinoma. Thanks to frequent body checks and amazing doctors, all is well," the caption reads.

The 48-year-old actor had the cancer taken out of his nose and the photo comes just a year after his last online update of his bout with skin cancer.

The discovery is his sixth since 2013 and has now seen him get checkups every three months and launch a range of sunscreens for children.

Basal cell carcinoma is a non-melanoma skin cancer that can appear anywhere on the body, but commonly occurs in areas that receive a high level of sun exposure, such as the head, face, neck, shoulders and back, according to the Cancer Council Australia.
