Icelandic president Guðni Thorlacius Jóhannesson recently brought up a topic that is on the mind of every pizza lover out there.
Pineapple. On pizza. *shudders*
It's a culinary choice that divides the most close knit friends and families. Those who dare speak of it must be prepared for the wrath of pineapple lovers and haters.
Does pineapple belong on pizza? Or, FAR away, in the bin (or at least in a fruit salad, for Pete's sake).
Johannesson was of the (expert) opinion that pineapple on pizza should be banned. Never to be seen or eaten again.
And other pizza-respecting people believe that, much like barbecue sauce or canned tuna, pineapple does not belong on pizza. If you want to sneak pineapple into something, make a piña colada.
You wouldn't put a sausage in a fruit smoothie, would you? No, because it would ruin it. It's not the time or place.
For those who are of the same opinion, here are five pizza recipes that don't contain a spiky tropical fruit.
1. Basic pizza recipe by Jamie Oliver.
'Keep it simple, stupid' is an important motto when it comes to pizza, and this pizza is just that -- soft pizza base, garlicky basil tomato sauce and mozzarella. Delish.
2. Sausage, red onion and wild mushroom pizza by Epicurious.
Need something more on your pizza? Try this pizza with fresh herbs, Parmesan, Italian sausage, mozzarella and fresh wild mushrooms.
3. Prosciutto and sheep milk cheese pizza by Food and Wine.

4. Green and white pizza by NY Times Cooking.
