President Donald Trump’s first major address to Congress on Tuesday night did not leave Stephen Colbert feeling inspired.
The speech’s central theme may have been the “renewal of the American spirit,” but the “Late Show” host said it sounded more like a bootleg version of “Make America Great Again.”
“Now, technically, this was not a ‘State of the Union,’” Colbert said during a live taping of his show. “Because I think in this timeline, the Confederacy won.”
