A clever meme featuring Sarah Jessica Parker as her “Sex and the City” alter ego wondering if she’s the last person on earth to meet with Russia’s U.S. ambassador has resulted in an intriguing invitation — from Russia with love, sort of.

The wickedly funny meme was created on Twitter by Huffington Post editor James Michael Nichols and reposted Thursday on Instagram by Parker. The post apparently caught the all-seeing cyber-eye of the Russian government. It mocks the mounting number of Donald Trump campaign aides coming to light who secretly met with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak.

The meme has Parker as relationship columnist Carrie Bradshaw sitting at her computer, typing: “I couldn’t help but wonder ... had the Russian ambassador been meeting with everybody except me?” (For a time on the program, Carrie dated Russian artist Aleksandr Petrovsky, who was played by Russian dancer/choreographer Mikhail Baryshnikov.)

I had to. Don't know the provenance however whoever you are, thank you. X, sj

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova fired back on Twitter Friday that Kislyak would be “happy” to meet with Parker, but added a kind of “Sex and the City” dig with: “If you want it so much.” In a kind of “Black Mirror” moment, her tweet shows Zakharova typing at her computer with Parker as Bradshaw typing on the computer screen.

No word yet on whether Parker will accept the Russians’ offer. If she opts to meet with Kislyak, she’ll join a crowded field. Among Trump’s campaign aides, so far several have now publicly admitted confabbing with the ambassador, including now bounced National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, Attorney General Jeff Sessions (who has recused himself from heading any investigation into Russian ties to the Trump camp), and senior campaign aide and Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner. In addition, former campaign foreign policy adviser Carter Page and campaign national security advisor J.D. Gordon, along with other unnamed advisors, according to Gordon, also met with Kislyak at an event last year during the Republican National Convention in Cleveland.

Nichols posted his meme on Wednesday, and Parker spotted it as it was passed along by someone else. “I had to” post, Parker wrote on Instagram. “Don’t know the provenance, however, whoever you are, thank you,” signed: “X, sj.”
