6 Green Smoothies That Don't Taste Like Grass

100% palatable. Delicious, in fact.

Much like ingesting spirulina or oil pulling, green smoothies are one of those health trains many of us wish we could get on board with, but really have trouble doing so (without gagging and/or vomming).

But what if there was a way to drink green smoothies without dying a little, or feeling like you're eating lawn? Where there's a will, there's a way.

First, let's take a look at why including greens into your smoothies is a good idea.

"Veggies are rich in fibre, micronutrients, polyphenols and antioxidants. Essentially, they're incredibly important for good health and helping our bodies run effectively," accredited practising dietitian Chloe McLeod told HuffPost Australia.

"The way some vegetables digest means they contain prebiotic fibres which provide food for the healthy bacteria found in our gut, improving gut health.

The trick is to use flavour combos that mask the greenness.

"Really aiming to get that five serves of vegetables a day means you're going to be a much healthier version of yourself."

Although fruit-only smoothies can be an overload of sugar, adding leafy greens like kale and spinach is an easy way to sneak in extra veg and meet those daily targets.

"Yes, whole vegetables are best, but if you can sneak an extra serve or two into your smoothie, it's going to make it a lot easier for you to get all those nutrients that your body is craving," McLeod said.

Keen to give them a go? Here are six green smoothies to try that don't taste like grass. Pro tip: start by adding a small amount of greens and work your way up.

From Foodie Crush.

The 'sweet' part of the recipe is what really makes this smoothie taste amazing and hide the greens' flavour. Vitamin C-packed mango, pineapple and kiwi make a sweet base, while the ginger and lime juice add that fresh tropical flavour.
