Winx has made it a staggering 16 wins in a row, taking out the Group 1 China Horse Club George Ryder Stakes on Golden Slipper day.
All eyes were on Winx in the $1 million fifth race of the day over 1,500 meters at Sydney's Rosehill Racecourse. And fans of the champion mare were not disappointed.
Winx did what everyone expected and won convincingly, storming home on a very heavy track to finish seven lengths ahead of Le Romain and Chautauqua in third.
Speaking post-race, trainer Chris Waller said he felt honoured to be associated with the beloved thoroughbred.
"She races well like that, that's how it is," he told reporters trackside.
"It's amazing to have a horse that you're associated with that's so well respected."
Jockey Hugh Bowman said it was special to be a part of Winx's success, noting that her run of wins came with much responsibility.
"With that responsibility comes a great confidence as well, she's just an exceptional mare," Bowman said.
"She meant business today and that's a very good feeling ... it was an important exercise to really push her to the line."
Golden Slipper Day at Sydney's Rosehill Racecourse is one of the iconic on the Australian racing calendar with five group one races, including the $3.5 million Longines Golden Slipper.
