A man has been arrested after a shooting incident in Holland Park West in Brisbane on Saturday.

The 32-year-old Carina man was arrested on Sunday afternoon at an address in Hawthorne, he is assisting detectives with their enquiries.

The victim, a 38-year-old man, was shot in the stomach on Saturday night at Logan Road in Holland Park West, police said.

Police say preliminary information suggests the pair were known to each other and this was not a random incident.

The man remains in the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition, but with life-threatening gunshot wounds to his abdomen and head.

The wounded man was treated at the scene by a doctor and then rushed to hospital.

Police declared an emergency situation under the Public Safety Preservation Act following the attack and locked down the area.

Officers believe the shooting was not a random incident and want anyone with information to call them.
