The body of a man knocked into the ocean at Nobbys Beach near Newcastle, NSW has been found by police on Wednesday, three days after he was reported missing.
NSW Police confirmed authorities located the man's body 1 kilometre off the shore of Newcastle Beach around 8am in a statement released on Wednesday.
Emergency services were called to the scene at about 7pm on Sunday night after reports two 23-year-old men were trapped at a rock face at Nobbys Beach before being knocked into the water by strong waves. One of the men was able to return to shore, however the other could not be located.

The incident sparked a rescue operation that involved officers from the Newcastle City Local Area Command, Water Police, local surf life savers and Volunteer Marine Rescue members.
While police are yet to formally name the man, the Sydney Morning Herald has reported the body found on Wednesday belongs to 23-year-old Pakistani student Mohsin Awan.
Police have thanked emergency services and the local community for their assistance in the operation. A report will also be prepared for the Coroner.
