Starbucks Releases 'American Cherry Pie Frappuccino.' In Japan.

Did we mention the domed pie crust top?

Food mashups are the norm these days, but that doesn’t mean we weren’t stopped in our tracks when we caught sight of Starbucks’ newest Frappuccino creation. It’s a cherry pie and a Frappuccino all in one Starbucks cup.

Set your sights on the frap that’ll be unleashed in Japan for a limited time starting April 13.

That’s the American Cherry Pie Frappuccino and it aims to recreate the experience of eating a classic diner cherry pie a la mode ― but in a cup, with a straw. In Japan.

The drink includes a bottom and top layer of cherry compote, a vanilla Frappuccino base studded with bite-sized pie pieces, whipped cream, and the pie crust domed top, of course. Breaking into the top with the straw is meant to recreate the experience of digging into a pie with a fork.

If you’re thinking, “yum,” you might be right. But if you’re thinking, “what a sugar bomb,” you’re also right. A tall cupcake creme Frappuccino, the closest comparable frap we have stateside, contains 42 grams of sugar ― that’s close to double the daily recommended intake for sugar.

Imagine that, with a pie crust top to boot.
