Channel 9 Reporter Ben McCormack Charged With Child Porn Offences

Police conducted raids on A Current Affair offices on Thursday.

A Current Affair reporter Ben McCormack has been charged with child pornography offences after police raided Channel Nine's Sydney offices in Willoughby on Thursday.

NSW Police confirmed Thursday afternoon that a man, 42, has been charged with sending child pornography material and allege he engaged in sexually explicit conversations about children with an adult male.

McCormack was arrested by detectives at a vehicle stop in Moore Park before police conducted searches of a home unit in Alexandria and an office at Willoughby, where they seized computers, a mobile phone, and electronic storage devices.

Channel Nine confirmed the story in television and online reports on Thursday afternoon, before NSW Police released a statement with the charges.

McCormack was taken to Redfern Police Station where he was then charged with using a carriage service for child pornography material. He was granted strict conditional bail to reappear in Downing Centre Local Court in May.

According to Channel 9 News, in an email to staff Nine's Director of News and Current Affairs Darren Wick said: "I can confirm that officers from the New South Wales police have been at TCN this morning investigating matters relating to a staff member at A Current Affair.

"We are co-operating with the police. However, we are not in a position to comment any further as this is an ongoing investigation."
