Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull might need to take a deep breath after these responses.

In case you haven't already heard, the Federal government announced immediate changes to the national citizenship process on Thursday and they were all based on "Australian values".

A tough new test to become an Australian citizen will include "new and more meaningful" questions, which could pose a red flag for certain migrant groups, ranging from "is it OK to assault your partner behind closed doors?" to "is it acceptable to keep girls from school?".

Australians from all walks of life took to social media on Thursday to react to the decision and decipher exactly what "Australian values" means.

And that's where the hilarity began. Everything from housing affordability to excessive alcoholism and a young Toadie Rebecchi's questionable hair style from classic Aussie soap Neighbours was thrown in the mix.
