Police are hunting for a Singaporean man who allegedly attacked a 20-year-old woman with a hammer, fracturing her skull, before stabbing her at an Airbnb home he was staying at in Brisbane last night.

According to Nine News, the woman was struck on the head and then repeatedly stabbed at the home in Norman Park, around 9.30pm. Police believe the man is the woman's former partner.

Police Inspector Steve Flori told ABC Radio the woman had visited the man, who was renting the home through Airbnb. The alleged attacker apparently fled the premises without his passport or wallet.

"We believe he has no access to funds whatsoever, so he may well in fact still be wearing boxer shorts and a t-shirt with no shoes," Insp Flori said.

Police have released a photo of the man they're searching for -- he's described as being a 30-year-old Singaporean national with dyed blond hair and a slim build. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt with red and black boxer shorts and no shoes.

The 20-year-old woman, who is originally from Singapore but currently living in Queensland, is currently in a stable condition in hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police are appealing for people to contact 000 if they see the alleged attacker. The police do not believe he is necessarily a risk to the general public but said that he would be feeling "desperate".
