One of the most talked about shows this year, Netflix's "13 Reasons Why" has been praised and criticised in equal measure for its depiction of sensitive topics.
The series follows Hannah Baker, a high schooler who commits suicide, leaving behind seven cassette tapes, each side of a tape detailing one person in her life who played a role in her suicide. The series was criticised for its depiction of rape, suicide and mature themes, while also being praised for forcing parents and schools to address issues like bullying and mental health.
The series was adapted from a novel of the same name, and as the 13 episodes Netflix released seemed to cover the content of the novel, fans weren't sure if the show would return for a second season. Recently Netflix announced that the series would be returning, and gave audiences a hint as to what's in store.
In a chat with "Entertainment Weekly", the "13 Reasons" showrunner Brian Yorkey revealed even more about the second season, saying it will be a chance for the show to reveal more about the characters introduced in the first season.
"For every tape there's another person who has a story," Yorkey said, "which is the person Hannah mentions on her tape. We saw Hannah's version of events unfold, but there's a lot more to be told also about those characters."
While Hannah's side of the story was told in the first season, Yorkey made it clear that she'll be back in the second season as the other characters re-live the months leading up to her death.
While the Netflix post on Facebook promises "no more tapes", Yorkey hints that something else may replace them.
"There is a different sort of analog technology that plays a hugely important role in season two. There will be a new piece of technology for 13-year-olds to Google and try to understand what it was."
On a final note, Yorkey gave us this to hopefully look forward to: "And also [I want to] see somebody punch Bryce in the face."
