Twenty-one year old Anja Nissen on Friday proceeded to the next round of the Eurovision song contest, earning a spot in this weekend's grand final where she will compete alongside fellow Aussie Isaiah Firebrace.
The Australian-born singer is representing Denmark -- her parents' birth country -- in the competition. She delivered a stellar performance of her hit song 'Where I Am' to make the final 10.
Now that Nissen has snagged her well-deserved position in the grand final, Aussies make up two spots for the final 10. Which, if it were an even chance, would mean we have a 20 percent opportunity for an Australian to win. An Australian winning a European song contest, that is.
"I'm really hoping that Australia will support me and I've no doubt that there are people in Australia who will support me and have supported me on my whole journey," Nissen told AAP before her second semi-final performance on Friday morning (Australian time).

A stunning waterfall of fireworks display -- the longest of any Eurovision act -- appeared behind Nissen as she performed, sending the crowd wild.
