South Australian police are investigating after a mother and her son were found dead inside their home in Adelaide.
Just after 11pm on Thursday evening, police were called to the home in the seaside suburb of Glenelg North to check on the welfare of the occupants.
No one is being sought in relation to the incident at this stage.
Detective chief inspector Wayne Overmeyer said that the woman was aged in her 40s and that the boy was about nine years old, the ABC reports.
"The deceased persons have not been formally identified, but are believed to be mother and son," he said.
"It is believed that there is no other person involved in these tragic circumstances."
Police were called to the property by the woman's estranged partner who could not get in touch with her.
"The inquiries stemmed from an estranged partner of the deceased and that's what started the investigation," Overmeyer said.
"These circumstances are tragic for anyone who is exposed to them and it's appropriate that we respect everybody, particularly the deceased and that we do a thorough job."
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
