With the days getting colder and darker, chances are all you've been craving lately are hot comfort foods. We're talking roasts, slow cooked stews and, of course, pasta -- cheesy, hearty, carby pasta. And no zucchini noodles, thankyouverymuch.
But it's not just these foods that make us feel warm and fuzzy inside. It's the cuddling up on the couch with a blanket (and a pet, if available), unwinding after a long day and then tucking into a good feed.
With this in mind, here are nine ridiculously comforting pasta recipes. Imagine baked bucatini pasta pie with meatballs, cheeseburger macaroni, creamy vegan mushroom pasta, slow cooker beef and cheese pasta, and more.
1. Cheesy bucatini pie with mini meatballs
From How Sweet Eats.
This. This is the pasta of dreams. Let's unpack this thing. It starts with the cheesy pasta pie, made with bucatini pasta and no fewer than THREE types of cheese. Once baked to golden, cheesy perfection, the pie is then topped with mini meatballs in a rich tomato sauce.
2. Slow cooker beef and cheese pasta
From The Cooking Jar.
If the slow cooker hasn't made an appearance yet, dust it off and make this super simple pasta dish with tender beef, a herbed, subtly sweet sauce, Parmesan and mozzarella, and al dente penne pasta. It's rich, flavoursome and tastes even better the longer it's cooked.
3. Vegan green chilli mac and cheese
From Minimalist Baker.
You can't go past mac and cheese to warm you up on a cold night. This mac and cheese is creamy, luxuriously cheesy and satisfying, but it's actually vegan. Don't be intimidated by this, however -- cashews, spices and nooch work wonders together.
4. Baked sausage and cheese rigatoni
From Foodie Crush.
Crusty on the outside and melty in the middle, this baked pasta dish is all kinds of delicious. Picture rigatoni pasta covered in rich tomato sauce with sausages, with melted layers of cheese baked throughout and crisped on top.
5. Sun-dried tomato pesto pasta
From Minimalist Baker.
This pasta is perfect for those simple pasta lovers. Using six simple ingredients and taking just 20 minutes from start to finish, this sun-dried tomato pesto pasta is big on flavour, while also being gluten free and vegan.
6. Spaghetti alla Carbonara
From Foodie Crush.
This classic pasta dish is all about simplicity. In fact, you only need four main ingredients to make it -- and cream is not one of them. Parmesan, bacon, cracked pepper and eggs. Perfect.
7. Mozzarella stuffed meatball pasta
From The Cooking Jar.
What's better than spaghetti and meatballs? Spaghetti and mozzarella-stuffed meatballs. Yes, at each mouthful of the big meatball, you'll eventually be rewarded with the gooey, cheesy centre of mozzarella.
8. Vegan one pot creamy mushroom pasta
From Delicious Everyday.
Love mushrooms? Try this creamy, flavourful pasta with herbs and tonnes of mushies. All you need is 15 minutes and a handful of simple ingredients.
9. Homemade cheeseburger macaroni
From Foodie Crush.
Everyone loves burgers, so why not combine burgers and pasta and make cheeseburger macaroni -- a rich, thick and creamy tomato sauce with hamburger meat, pasta and cheese. Lots of cheese.
