Coca Cola Creates Coke With No Sugar To Replace Coke With Zero Sugar

It took years of research to create.

You'd be forgiven if you were left scratching your head after hearing the news that Coca-Cola was launching a new sugar-free coke, because they've done it a few times before.

Coca-Cola No Sugar, which was launched on Friday, is the latest in Coca-Cola's sugar-free range joining the likes of Coke Zero and Diet Coke. Not forgetting Coca-Cola Life, which contained stevia and sugar, and was discontinued in April.

While there is no word on whether Diet Coke will get the flick, Coke Zero will gradually be phased out following the release of the new sugar-free drink.

"We think it's the closest we have ever come to the classic taste of Coca-Cola," Roberto Mercadé, President of Coca-Cola Australia said.

"We wanted the experience of drinking Coca-Cola No Sugar to be as close as possible to the real thing."

Mercadé also said that the new product is a result of the company's commitment to offering more sugar-free options.

"This is about The Coca-Cola Company making the leap from simply offering people more choice to actively encouraging people to consider a 'no sugar' option," he said.

Coca-Cola sent HuffPost Australia a few bottles of the new drink for a taste test and the reactions around the office were mixed.

For some, it was similar to the original but just missed the mark, while others, who weren't too pleased with the "floury" taste were left disappointed to hear that it would be replacing Coke Zero, a flavour they actually preferred.

We'll let you make up your own minds when Coca-Cola No Sugar hits stores on June 16.
