Arsenal Players Practising Their Australian Slang Is Hilarious

"Maaaaaate!"

The Australian accent is an art that is hard to master -- everyone knows that. But that doesn't make it any less funny when foreigners give Aussie slang their best go. Next up? Arsenal Football Club.

Ahead of the team's trip to Sydney in July, club stars Mesut Ozil, Danny Welbeck, Alex Iwobi, Olivier Giroud and Nacho Monreal were challenged with classic Australian sayings such as "mate", "fair dinkum" and "she'll be right" to prepare for their tour 'Down Under'.

And safe to say, each of the players' attempts to sound Australian are hilarious. Each player -- that was -- except for winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who managed to perfect his Aussie accent in next-to-no-time.

In case you missed it, Arsenal is coming to Sydney for two pre-season friendly matches in the harbour city against 2016/17 A-League Champions Sydney FC and the Western Sydney Wanderers.

While numerous big-named European sides have toured Australia in recent years, Arsenal is not as known to travel the world for out-of-season arrangements and hasn't stepped foot down under for 40 years. The last time was in 1977, when they beat the Socceroos 3-1.

And just like some of the player's slang renditions, people couldn't believe it when the announcement was made late in 2015.

With less than a month before Arsenal touch down in Sydney, there's still time for the team to perfect communicating in 'Straya.

As for Oxlade-Chamberlain, he's basically an honorary "maaaate" already.
