Yes Paul, we are excited too.

Paul McCartney formally announced his Australian tour during a Facebook Live chat with comedian Tim Minchin on Wednesday evening. The singer will perform in Australia and New Zealand in December during his first tour down under since 1993.

While this announcement was hardly a surprise, Aussies across the country are very excited to see the former Beatle perform. McCartney cancelled his last tour to Australia in the aftermath of the 2002 Bali bombings. At the time he told The Age: "As a mark of respect to both the families who have lost loved ones and to the families of the injured, I have decided to postpone my planned concert in Melbourne as this is not the appropriate time for a rock show."

The 2017 tour is set to stop in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, so with only four cities making the list tickets could be hard to come by.

Trying to get tickets to a show, either in the pre or general sales is stressful, to say the very least. In an attempt to ease some of these anxiety-inducing circumstances, here are some tips for accessing and surviving the Paul McCartney tour presales.

Tickets go on sale to the general public on July 4, however, are available for presale for registered customers on the Paul McCartney website on Tuesday June 27. Tickets will go on sale at 5pm and to gain access you'll need to use the password PAUL1ON1ANZ.

Presale tickets are also available from the Frontier website on Thursday June 29. To access the presale it is essential to register. The good news is, registering with Frontier is free, so there really isn't any excuse to miss out. The presale is capped at four tickets per person, so get your mates organised into quads ahead of time to avoid any social conflict. Tickets can however, be bought in sets of six in the general sale. You'll need a presale code to access the tickets, so once you register make sure your code is sent to you.

All that's left to say is good luck. And if you miss out on a ticket, probably best to Let It Be.
