Jim Carrey's Existential, Sad Interview At New York Fashion Week Is Strangely Iconic

Just don't tell him we used that word, Jim doesn't believe in icons.

It's like 'The Truman Show' got an unofficial sequel, and things got grittier and darker than ever.

At the 'Harper's Bazaar' party during New York Fashion Week, Carrey walked the red carpet and stopped for a brief interview with 'E! News' but from the immediate beginning things were... off.

Well, you definitely can't say that Jim Carrey gives a boring interview: "There is no me. There's just things happening." pic.twitter.com/HatQ6mHsKp

Twirling around reporter Catt Sadler, Carrey started things off by letting her know, "there's no meaning to any of this."

"I wanted to find the most meaningless thing that I could come to and join and... here I am. I mean, you got to admit, it's completely meaningless."

Hosted at the Plaza Hotel last Friday, the party was a celebration of Icons, with the likes of Kim Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, Selena Gomez and Nikki Minaj were all in attendance alongside Carrey but he wasn't having a bar of it.

"Celebrating icons, boy that is just the absolute lowest aiming possibility that we could come up with. Do you believe in icons? I don't believe in personalities. I don't believe that you exist, but there is a wonderful fragrance in the air."

While Carrey is on a completely different level, a ton of people have said they loved seeing him tear down the industry in the albeit awkward red carpet chat.

Carrey went on, as Sadler looked toward the camera like she was on an episode of 'The Office'.

"I believe that peace lies beyond personalities, beyond invention of the skies. Beyond the red 'S' that you wear on your chest that makes bullets bounce off. I believe that it's deeper than that. I believe that we're a field of energy dancing for itself and... I don't care."

Sadler's response was truly masterful in a way only 'E! News' could manage after that kind of twistedly deep existential rant, "But Jim, you got really dressed up for the occasion, you look good."

"We don't matter," Carrey repeated as he began to walk off, "we don't matter. There's the good news".
