Police are searching for a reptile thief after rare native snakes and lizards were stolen from a council-run reserve in NSW.
Newcastle local police are asking for the public's help to solve the baffling heist, which took place over Friday and Saturday nights at Blackbutt Reserve, New Lambton.

A frilled neck lizard was taken in the first theft and 15 reptiles were stolen last night, police said.
In total, two frilled neck lizards, two shingle back lizards, a central netted dragon, two Woma pythons, four central beard dragons, two spotted pythons, and two olive pythons were taken.

Blackbutt Reserve said on Facebook that its entire reptile collection was gone, prompting it to cancel its daily reptile show until further notice.
