A man will face court charged with murder after a double shooting at a tyre business in Melbourne's west.

The 40-year-old alleged shooter, from Hillside, was charged with murder and attempted murder over the shooting at Ravenhall just after midday on Friday.

A St Albans man, 40, died in hospital from gunshot wounds, while a 36-year-old St Albans man remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition following the shooting.

About five shots were heard to ring out before the shooter, driving a ute, sped off, NewsCorp Australia reports.

The killer reportedly drove up to the business in and began shooting, leaving the victims wounded in the shop's driveway.
