Christopher Parker is a doctor trained in Australia, where he worked prior to pursuing a Master in Public Health from the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health. He has worked in a variety of settings including major metropolitan hospitals, rural emergency departments, and remote Indigenous Australian community clinics. His research experience includes rates of liver cancer amongst Indigenous Australians; knowledge about hospital-acquired infections; and comparative Indigenous health policies in Chile, Australia, New Zealand and the United States. His interests include addressing Indigenous health inequities; fair access to health care services; the upstream determinants of health; reading literature; and Australian Rules Football.

In order to garner political will for an issue, the media need to be reporting on it, and a large number of people need to care about it. As it is hard to get people to care about numbers, regardless of their significance, it is hard to garner political will, or the fundraising, to address the issue.
