After spending a decade abroad, Australia's problems are a welcome change.
I’m a Melbourne-born journalist who worked for The Myanmar Times and the state-run Global New Light of Myanmar and contributed to a host of national and regional publications during the four-and-a-half years I lived in Yangon. In 2009 I did an internship in Bangladesh at the highest circulating English language newspaper and later worked at another national newspaper as a special correspondent, and lived in Dhaka for three years. Prior to that I lived in London, where I was accredited as a newspaper journalist by the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ). In Myanmar I was also a cross-cultural consultant for the relocation company Cartus and founded the Myanmar Foreign Correspondents Club in 2013.
