The right to not cast a vote at all if one is not satisfied with any candidate or party is as fundamental as the right to cast a vote for what one believes in. Forced participation does not guarantee a true reflection of will of the voters. This is especially true in our party driven political system.

There is something going on here in Australia that transcends the norms of a free society and creates the specter of more totalitarian regimes. We all need to stop and think if this is a road we want to go down.

It would be great if everyone could open their minds to the possibility that there are people who think in a completely different manner than yourself. These people are not a threat to you. They are your neighbours, your doctors and nurses, your teachers and co-workers. Let’s allow everyone the right to believe what they feel is best for them and not take their being different as a personal insult.
