Recently, I had my first trip away from my son. I’ve had a night off before, but this was proper time off -- five nights in Sydney sans my one-year-old, Sam. I was bloody excited. But when the day came to leave, I was a mess.

Having a child challenges women in a way that nothing else does. And among the chaos and stress of maternity leave, there are some magical moments when you get to re-evaluate what is important to you, gain new perspective and consider who you really want to be. And it's not surprising that Foye was 'envious' of that.

Women are not born with some magical ability to parent while male DNA is void of it. Parenting is a skill that is learnt and it develops over time with practice. It's just that it's us women who usually get more practice.
