Lady Gaga Is A Rock God On Cover Of New Single 'Perfect Illusion'

Wake us up when it's Sept. 9.

Everybody’s walking around like its totally normal that Lady Gaga is dropping the first single off her new album this week, while we’re over here like:

On Tuesday, Gaga tweeted that “Perfect Illusion” will be available Sept. 9 (!) alongside the cover art for the single. In the simple shot, a far cry from some of the singer’s more **cough** ambitious covers, a dressed-down Gaga is captured mid-jump, wearing a simple black T-shirt and jean short cutoffs.

The look could signal a rock influence on the new album, hopefully in the same vein as (in our humble opinion) her best song, “You & I.”

The Golden Globe winner also posted an Instagram collage on her account the same day with lyrics presumably lifted from “Perfect Illusion,” reading, “I don’t need eyes to see / I felt you touchin’ me / High like amphetamine / Maybe you’re just a dream.”

Alongside the handwritten words a Gaga fan somewhere is currently tattooing on their body are black-and-white shots of the singer looking retro ‘50s chic in the recording studio.
